Where are all the missionaries?
Here is another reason for the decline of missionaries from the U.S. since the 1980’s: We say, “Everyone is a missionary.” It sounds so spiritual and makes us feel like we’re doing our part in the work of missions. Since we’re all missionaries and America is such a needy mission field, why would any one go overseas. Don’t be duped by such foolish talk. The reason why many still go is because that is exactly what Jesus commanded. A missionary is a “sent one” with the purpose of taking the Gospel to those of another culture. “If God calls you to be a missionary, don’t stoop to become a king.” If YOU want to go, join us at YWAM Jacksonville. www.ywamjax.com -

Come and join us in Cincinnati, Ohio on Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 for a conference that will cause cataclysmic adjustments in the lives of those who attend. If you’re satisfied with the status quo, then stay away. But if you’re ready to do your part in bringing fulfillment to the Great Commission, this conference is for you. Where are all the missionaries?
Why is the missionary force in decline? One of the reasons is simply this: Apathy in the Church. Many people just don’t care. Actually, the way some talk, it sounds like they’d like to see all the Muslims go straight to hell. Definitely not in touch with the heart of God. Some say they care, but put all of their time and money into things that have nothing to do with the Great Commission. It’s like the Commission is just one of many options, competing with the new carpet, nice lights, and the church cafe. Once the Church gets some passion for completing Jesus’ last command, all of this will change. If you have that PASSION, then come and join us at YWAM Jacksonville. Check us out at www.ywamjax.com

Where are all the missionaries?
Why do we have only about 1/2 as many missionaries from the U.S. as we did in the 1980’s? Here is one of the most significant reasons: The lack of financial support. Speaking from experience, I can tell you that this is no longer a valid reason for the vast majority of those who want to go long-term to the field. The solution is simple and available. Go as a tent maker. That can be accomplished by a willingness to teach English. The need for foreign English teachers is prevalent, especially in places like China. Come to YWAM Jacksonville and we’ll give you the necessary training. It isn’t rocket science, but more like how do you spell c a t. -
Where are all the missionaries?
Why has the number of missionaries from the U.S. declined from 65,000 in the 1980’s to 35,000 today? Reasons I’ve mentioned earlier are: 1. Marrying someone not interested in missions, 2. Going in to debt because of school, and 3. Fear. Today I’ll mention another of the 10 reasons for the decline, which is the theology of Universalism. A popular book is now taking the church by storm called “Love Wins” by Rob Bell where he clearly embraces Universalism. The basic idea of the wicked theology is that everyone goes to heaven. With so many people in the church, along with the majority outside the church, believing the lie it shouldn’t surprise us that the work of missions is on the decline. Why would anyone go to sacrifice and share the Good News when everyone’s already going to heaven? This theology makes missionaries look like the biggest idiots ever. It steals from the motivation for missions, it steals from the glory intended for Jesus, and it steals from the simplicity and clarity of the Gospel message.
If you call on the Name of Jesus, you will be saved. If you don’t, you will be lost for eternity. If you desire to see people rescued from sin and a God-less eternity, then join us in training and going to the nations. Check us out at www.ywamjax.com

Where are all the missionaries?
Another key reason for the missionary force from the U.S. being only half the size as it was in the 1980’s is FEAR. It’s great if others want to go to places like Afghanistan, Pakistan, or North Korea. But when it’s one of our family, we go crazy. Believe me, I’ve heard it enough from parents when we’re preparing to send their grown children to these challenging places. Putting people “in harm’s way” is thought by many to be irresponsible. Isn’t this exactly what Jesus did with His disciples? Truthfully, Jesus-style discipleship doesn’t operate in fear. If you’re ready to go to the hard places, then come to YWAM Jacksonville. As C.T. Studd said, “Some with to stay within the sound of church or chapel bell; I’d rather run a rescue shop within a yard of hell.” Let’s GO. www.ywamjax.com

Where are all the missionaries?
Why are there about half as many missionaries now as there were in the 80’s from the U.S.? The third reason is a lack of intimacy with Jesus. Young Christians today are chasing after the American Dream just like everyone else. You know - Go to college to get a good job to…blah, blah, blah.
If you’re tired of the status quo, then run from what everyone else is doing. Stop wasting your life with passion stealers and start praying, fasting, devouring the Word, and preaching Jesus in the streets. He is worthy! www.ywamjax.com

Where are the missionaries?
Reason number 2 for the decline in the number of missionaries and why 99 out of 100 young people who say they will GO never do is this: DEBT. The single largest cause for debt in the U.S. are student loans. The second largest are credit cards. The solution is simple. Do a missionary training school or two, and then GO. You don’t need to go to college in order to work in missions. In fact, it is a major deterrent in going to the nations. Do your missionary training school with YWAM Jacksonville. Where are the missionaries?
In the 1980’s, there were 65,000 missionaries from the U.S. Today there are 35,000. What happened? I’ll share 10 reasons for the decline over the next couple weeks. The first one is this: Young people are more committed to getting married than they are to fulfilling their “call” to be a missionary.

The American Dream
Here it is: Go to a good school, to get a good job, to make a lot of money, to buy a lot of things, that you don’t really need! Wow, sounds more like a nightmare.
Here’s another option: Do a missionary training school (DTS), move to a hard place where they’ve never heard the Gospel, and die as a martyr for the glory of Jesus!
Take your pick of the 2 options. If you choose the 2nd, then YWAM Jax is for you. Check us out at www.ywamjax.com
